Updated Guide to Alcoholic Drinks - What's in Them and How to Label Them

New Zealand Food Safety has updated the ‘A guide to Alcoholic Drinks – what’s in them and how to label them’ following recent amendments to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code arising from Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Proposals P1049 (carbohydrate and sugar claims on alcoholic beverages) and P1059 (energy labelling on alcoholic beverages). These changes introduce new energy labelling requirements for packaged alcoholic beverages and clarify the carbohydrate and sugar nutrition content claims that may be made on alcoholic beverages.

The updated guidance outlines the new requirements and what they mean for businesses.
