New Zealand Food Safety has updated the My Food Plan (MFP) content to reflect changes to requirements since it was first released in 2019 and to generally improve its usability. It contains updated rules around suitable water, plain English allergen labelling, and mock recalls that businesses must follow.
Steps to getting a 'My Food Plan'
It’s not compulsory for businesses to update their entire MFPs but they must at least include and follow these updated cards:
‘Ensuring your water is suitable’ (replaces ‘Suitable water') [PDF, 380 KB]
‘Recalling your food or drink’ (replaces ‘Recalling your food’) [PDF, 287 KB]
Businesses can download the updated cards directly from 'Custom food control plans'
Or they can download the full My Food Plan [PDF, 5.2 MB]
We encourage businesses to download and include these cards as soon as possible, but their plans must be updated by 30 April 2026.
